Wasps
Latin Name:Cimex Hymenoptera
Description:Wasp are insects. They are not related to bees or ants.
Color:Wasps are dramatically colored with alternating black and yellow areas of coloring.
Habitat: They live in trees, garages, porches, playgrounds and abandoned buildings. All wasps build nests. The nests can be found one or two stories high or ground level. Wasps make their paper-like nests from wood fibers they chew up into pulp.
Life Cycle:Drones live 12-22 days while the queens live up to a year.
Type of Damage:Wasps tunnel into wood decks, porches and other wooden structures and can cause damage over time. If provoked, wasps will sting. People who are allergic to wasp stings are also allergic to the hornet stings.
